Chrome is a transition metal with atomic number 24 from the chrome group. It is hard and tough, easily deformable and forgeable. Chrome metal shows excellent corrosion resistance and is antiferromagnetic. It is soluble in hydrochloric acid and sulfuric acid. However, the dissolution of the metal does not occur immediately but after the removal of the protective oxide layer. During the dissolution of chrome, hydrogen is developed.
