This alloy contains approximately 67% iron, 0.12% carbon, 18% chromium, 10% nickel, and up to 1.5% titanium. The high chromium content forms a passive layer, providing excellent resistance to air and water. Nickel addition allows use in oxidizing environments at temperatures up to 850°C, while titanium improves resistance to intergranular corrosion and increases strength. The alloy can be easily cold or hot rolled.This material is known for its high ductility, toughness, and outstanding weldability with all common welding methods. However, its corrosion resistance is relatively low in chlorinated environments or when exposed to sulfuric and hydrochloric acids.
