Material 1.4439 is an austenitic stainless steel alloyed with chromium, nickel, and molybdenum. Its high molybdenum content combined with added nitrogen significantly enhances its corrosion resistance, especially in acidic chloride environments. This blend of elements also improves resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion.
Alloy 317LMN’s nitrogen content boosts its yield strength compared to 317L and, with its low carbon content, it can be used in welded conditions without the risk of chromium carbide precipitation at grain boundaries.
In the annealed state, Alloy 317LMN is nonmagnetic and can only be hardened through cold working—not by heat treatment. It is easily weldable and can be processed using standard manufacturing methods.
