Material 1.3964, also known as Nitronic 50, is an austenitic stainless steel alloyed with nickel, chromium, manganese, and molybdenum, and stabilized with niobium. This non-magnetic steel is highly resistant to corrosion, especially in seawater, making it ideal for marine applications. It offers excellent resistance to stress corrosion cracking, high tensile and yield strength, and remains stable in chloride-rich environments. The material can be easily welded and machined, with moderate machinability and forgeability.
If you’re searching for a reliable supplier of 1.3964 material, you’re in the right place. We offer high-quality nickel alloys at competitive prices with worldwide delivery.
Thanks to its outstanding corrosion resistance against seawater, Nitronic 50 is widely used in coastal and offshore environments. Typical applications include offshore structures such as oil platforms, production platforms, wind turbines, and pipelines, as well as shipbuilding for submarine hulls and the manufacture of diving watches.
Main features of 1.3964 include:
- High strength and non-magnetic properties
- Excellent seawater corrosion resistance
- Resistance to stress corrosion cracking
- High tensile strength and yield point
- Stability in chloride environments
- Good weldability and machinability
- Medium machinability and forgeability
Common applications for Nitronic 50:
- Offshore industry (drilling and production platforms, wind turbines, pipelines)
- Shipbuilding (submarine hulls)
- Watchmaking (diving watches)
- Pulp and paper industry
- Fertilizer industry
