CuSn6 is a copper alloy with 6% tin through solid solution strengthening. This alloy is characterized by high strength and good spring properties with sufficient conductivity and good cold formability. It is wear-resistant, highly corrosion-resistant and has good solderability.

Typical applications for CuSn6 are stamped parts, connectors, spring contacts, springs, metal hoses, in the paper industry as well as in shipbuilding and apparatus engineering, electrical engineering and mechanical engineering.

The electrical conductivity of this alloy depends on its chemical composition, the extent of cold forming and the size of the crystal grains. High cold working and fine crystal grains can reduce the conductivity.

CuSn6 is resistant to natural and industrial atmospheres, sea air, drinking and process water (at moderate flow rates), seawater and non-oxidizing acids, alkalis and neutral salt solutions. However, CuSn6 is not resistant to ammonia, halogenated solutions and atmospheres containing cyanide and hydrogen sulphide, or oxidizing acids. Bronze alloys do, however, have improved resistance to seawater and pitting.
