Bronze round material is a round long product, consisting of a bronze. Originally, bronze was called an alloy of at least 60% copper and tin as the main alloy additive (tin bronze). Depending on the main alloy additive, a distinction is made between different types of bronze: beryllium bronze, aluminum bronze, lead bronze, manganese bronze and silicon bronze. These are so-called special bronzes.
Tin bronzes are divided into two further types: wrought alloys (max. Tin content - 9%) and cast alloys (tin content - 9% to 13%). Wrought alloys are suitable for processing by forming. Casting alloys are particularly suitable for casting.
In our shop, bronze round material with the material number 2.1090 (CuSn7Zn4Pb7) is offered. This bronze has the following chemical composition: copper (81-85%), tin (6-8%), zinc (2-5%) and lead (5-8%) and is considered a common sliding bearing material. It is not susceptible to non-oxidizing acids and neutral salt solutions. This alloy is also very resistant to dezincification and stress corrosion cracking. However, it is sensitive to solutions containing cyanides and halogens, oxidizing acids, gases containing halogens and hydrogen sulfide.
Properties of bronze rod material
The material 2.1090 is characterized by the following features:
- good corrosion resistance even in sea water;
- good machinability and solderability;
- poor weldability;
- medium hardness and high wear resistance;
- good emergency running properties.

- general mechanical engineering (plain bearings and axial bearing shells);
- Tool making (bearings and bushings);
- Piston pin bushings;
- Friction rings and discs;
- Ship shaft covers;
- Gear boxes, rocker arms and stuffing boxes;
- Normally and highly stressed plain bearing bushings and shells.
