3.7165 is a titanium alloy with a titanium content of 88.74 - 91.0%. The titanium wire is additionally alloyed with approximately 5.50 - 6.75% aluminum and about 3.5 - 4.5% vanadium. Aluminum increases oxidation resistance. Vanadium enhances the hot strength and tensile strength of the alloy. Titanium Grade 5 can be hardened and is well hot formable. Ti6Al4V offers excellent weldability and shows excellent resistance to saltwater and marine atmosphere. It also has high strength, good toughness, and ductility. Furthermore, this alloy has excellent biocompatibility and is thus accepted by the human body. Titanium Grade 5 has good creep resistance up to about 300°C.
