Description:

Pure magnesium is hardly used in technology due to its properties. Furthermore, it is used as a reducing agent to obtain metals such as beryllium, titanium, uranium, and others from their oxides or halides. For the production of magnesium alloys, the main portion of the magnesium obtained is used. These alloys are characterized by low density, high mechanical strength, and corrosion resistance. In addition, they can be processed well with relatively low cost. Their applications include aircraft and vehicle construction, mechanical engineering, the construction of transportation equipment, household machines, office machines, as well as optical devices in electrical engineering and electronics.
