Gallium (Ga) is a rare low-melting semi-metal of the boron group with atomic number 31. Chemically, it is very similar to aluminum. The metal is soft and has a very low melting point of 29.76 °C. In its solid state, gallium is diamagnetic. The metal is stable in air and does not react with water. It is soluble in dilute acids and in dilute bases (amphoteric). Liquid gallium attacks most metals and is therefore stored in plastic containers.
You can buy gallium in the Evek GmbH online store. As a reliable supplier, we can ship rare earths worldwide.
As gallium is rare, it is used only to a limited extent in industry. The main field of application of gallium is the production of various gallium compounds (gallium arsenide), which are usually used for solar cells and light-emitting diodes. Other areas of application are
- Gallium thermometers;
- as a coating for mirrors;
- in lamps (as a substitute for mercury);
- Gallium alloys;
- medical diagnostics.
Gallium has the following characteristics:
- soft and low-melting;
- diamagnetic;
- soluble in acids and bases;
- attackable in the liquid state.
Gallium price will surprise you positively in our online store. In addition to gallium, you can also buy other rare earth metals.
