Pure beryllium is a very light, strong and brittle metal. With a density of 1.85 g/cm3, beryllium is the second lightest elemental metal after lithium.

The gray metal is valued as an alloying element due to its high melting point, creep and shear strength as well as its high tensile and bending strength. Although beryllium weighs only about a quarter as much as steel, it is six times as strong.

Like aluminum, beryllium metal forms an oxide layer on its surface, which makes it corrosion-resistant. The metal is non-magnetic and non-sparking - properties that are valued in the oil and gas industry - and has high thermal conductivity over a wide temperature range as well as excellent heat dissipation properties.

Beryllium is available in the Evek GmbH online store. Various rare earth metals are offered at a good price.

Beryllium's low X-ray absorption cross-section and high neutron scattering cross-section make it ideal for X-ray windows and as a neutron reflector and moderator in nuclear applications.

Despite its sweet taste, beryllium is corrosive to tissue and can lead to a chronic, life-threatening allergic disease known as berylliosis if inhaled.

Beryllium is used in:

  • Consumer electronics and telecommunications;
  • Industrial components and commercial aerospace;
  • Defense and military;
  • Medical devices.

Beryllium has the following properties:

  • Beryllium is a grayish-white metal with a non-magnetic, hard and brittle surface;
  • With a density of 1.85 g/cm3, beryllium is relatively light;
  • Due to its low density and high thermal conductivity, beryllium is ideal for use in buildings.

Buy beryllium from Evek GmbH, the competent supplier of high-purity rare earth metals.
