38xc is an alloyed chromium-silicon structural steel. The material designation 38h2mua means:

• 38 - 0.38% carbon content;
• X - about 1% chromium;
• C - about 1% silicon.

As an alloying element, chromium increases the wear and tear resistance of the material. Silicon has a positive effect on tensile strength, yield point and scale resistance. The properties of this type of steel can be improved by further heat treatment. After the heat treatment, good strength properties, plastic deformability and excellent notched impact strength are achieved.
