12h2n4a is an alloyed chromium-nickel structural steel. The material designation 12h2n4a means:

• 12 - 0.12% carbon content;
• H2 - 2% chromium;
• N4 - 4% nickel;
• А - steel quality very high.

The grade has very good toughness and high core strength. It also has great wear resistance and good surface hardness. The material is characterized by poor machinability due to the addition of nickel. It has limited weldability and can only be welded with appropriate preheating and post-annealing.
