Gallium (Ga) is a rare low-melting semi-metal of the boron group with the atomic number 31. Chemically, it is very similar to aluminium. The metal is soft and has a very low melting point of 29.76 °C. In its solid state, gallium is diamagnetic. The metal is stable in air and does not react with water. It is soluble in dilute acids and dilute bases (amphoteric). Liquid gallium attacks most metals and is therefore stored in plastic containers.
