CuSn6 is a copper alloy with 6% tin through solid-solution strengthening. This alloy is characterized by high strength and good spring properties with sufficient electrical conductivity and good cold formability. It is wear-resistant, very corrosion-resistant, and easy to solder.

Typical applications for CuSn6 include stamping parts, plug-in connectors, spring contacts, springs, metal hoses, in the paper industry, as well as in shipbuilding and apparatus construction, in electrical engineering, and in mechanical engineering.

The electrical conductivity of this alloy depends on its chemical composition, the degree of cold deformation, and the size of the crystal grains. High cold deformation and fine crystal grains can reduce conductivity.

CuSn6 is resistant to natural and industrial atmospheres, sea air, drinking and service water (with moderate flow), seawater, and to non-oxidizing acids, alkalis, and neutral salt solutions. However, CuSn6 is not resistant to ammonia, halogenated, cyanide- and hydrogen sulfide-containing solutions and atmospheres, as well as oxidizing acids. Bronze alloys, however, show improved resistance to seawater and pitting corrosion.
