Stainless steel round material is a round long product made from rustproof stainless steel. It is used for the production of various components and serves as a semi-finished product for construction and turning work. The length of a stainless steel rod varies from 1.5 to 6.5 m and the diameter is in the range from 3 to 320 mm. Depending on the production process, round stainless steel material can be hot-rolled, cold-rolled or cold-drawn and have a ground or matt surface.
The following types of stainless steel are used to manufacture stainless steel rods: AISI 304 (general purposes), AISI 316 (acid and seawater resistant) and AISI 321 (heat resistant).
Properties of stainless steel rod material
All stainless steel round bars have the following general properties:
- excellent corrosion resistance;
- good processing properties;
- good weldability;
- good heat resistance;
- high robustness and wear resistance.
Main areas of application for stainless steel round rod
- Fastening material (bolts, nuts);
- Tools for metal treatment;
- Mechanical engineering (shafts, flanges, gears, bearings);
- Furniture fittings;
- Dishes cutlery);
- High and low temperature applications;
- Aggressive environments (alkalis, acids, sea water).
The addition of other alloying elements such as B. Chrome and nickel make the use of stainless steel rods in the temperature range up to 1000 ° С possible. By adding only chrome, the semi-finished product can be used to manufacture control valves, shut-off valves and injection nozzles. The content of titanium, chrome and nickel enables the use of the round rod in the textile, pharmaceutical, food and wood industries.
Stainless steel rods in various sizes are available in our online shop. In addition to AISI 304, you will also find other types of stainless steel in rod form.
