Titanium wire 3.7165 (Grade 5, Ti6Al4V) contains 88.74–91% titanium, alloyed with approximately 5.50–6.75% aluminum and 3.5–4.5% vanadium. Aluminum improves resistance to scaling, while vanadium increases high-temperature and tensile strength. This alloy can be hardened, is easy to hot work, and offers excellent weldability. It is highly resistant to salt water and marine environments, and also has high strength, toughness, and ductility. Grade 5 titanium is biocompatible, making it suitable for medical implants, and has good creep resistance up to about 300°C.
