Stainless steel wire mesh 1.4404 / 316L

This fine stainless steel sieve mesh is available in versions with 300 or 400 mesh. The material 1.4404 belongs to the low-carbon, molybdenum-containing stainless steel family 316L and is also known as V4A or X2CrNiMo17-12-2.

Select the mesh structure correctly

The mesh size indicates the number of openings, not directly a fixed filter fineness in micrometers. The wire diameter and the weaving pattern are also important for the actual opening and the behavior of a sieve or filter surface. A higher mesh count alone is therefore not a complete specification of the desired separation.

Material and resistance

Molybdenum supports corrosion resistance; the low carbon content improves resistance to intergranular corrosion after welding. The material is well formable and weldable. For aggressive or chloride-containing media, concentration and temperature must be considered. Even 316L is not resistant to pitting corrosion under all conditions.
