The powder is obtained by crushing, grinding, or atomizing the steel melt. The composition of the powder is mainly determined by iron, but additives of nickel and chromium may also be present. Stainless powder has the following properties: it is not subject to corrosive processes; it does not lose its shape and color when it interacts with a humid environment; it is resistant to oxidation, abrasion, and wear; it is well suited for pressing, sintering, and forming. The powder may vary in composition, bulk density, weight, and other parameters.
Application
Sintered and electrotechnical products, various filters are made from stainless powder. In addition, it is used in powder metallurgy.
