Description:

Hafnium is a silver-colored, deformable metal that can be found in all minerals that contain zirconium. Hafnium resists corrosion in the air due to the formation of an oxide layer. Apart from hydrofluoric acid, hafnium is not attacked by alkalis and acids. Hafnium can be used to control the recrystallization process of tungsten filaments, but its main area of application is the control rods in nuclear reactors, since hafnium can absorb neutrons.

Areas of application:

  • Railing construction
  • food industry
  • Beverage industry
  • chemistry
