The width and length of sheet metal blanks come with a tolerance of +/-2mm. Please note, these zinc sheet metal cuts are not intended for decorative or visible applications. The sheets are cut using guillotine shears, resulting in sharp edges, and not all have a protective film. The surface is of industrial quality, so scratches may be present. If you require a specific finish, contact us beforehand so we can try to accommodate your needs. These zinc sheets are readily available in stock and require no production time. Preparation for shipping takes 2-3 working days, and delivery times vary by parcel service—please refer to our FAQ for more details.Zinc is a brittle, heavy transition metal from the zinc group that becomes highly malleable between 120°C and 150°C, making it suitable for rolling into sheets and wires. Thanks to its natural passivation, zinc is resistant to air. At 220°C, it can be processed into powder, which is pyrophoric and can ignite spontaneously at room temperature. Zinc dissolves in acids, producing salts and hydrogen, and reacts with alkalis to form zincates. Notably, high-purity zinc (99.999%) is resistant to acids.Zinc is primarily used to galvanize iron and steel, providing effective corrosion protection. It also forms alloys, such as brass (a combination of copper and zinc), which is widely used in plumbing and jewelry. Additionally, zinc is found in non-rechargeable batteries like alkaline manganese batteries.Typical applications of zinc include: - Corrosion protection for iron and steel items (such as buckets, wires, and pipes) - Batteries (alkaline manganese and silver oxide zinc batteries) - Construction industry (zinc sheets for roofing and facades) - Organic chemistry as a reducing agent - Hydrogen productionKey properties of zinc metal are: - High ductility - Air resistance - Pyrophoric nature in powder form - Acid resistance when highly pure - Good formabilityEvek GmbH is a trusted supplier offering pure zinc at competitive prices.
