Zirconium wire is made from pure zirconium. This metal is relatively soft and ductile. It is easy to process and is often used as an alloying additive. In addition, it is resistant to almost all acids and alkalis. Only aqua regia and hydrofluoric acid attack the metal. Zirconium forms a solid oxide layer and therefore has extreme corrosion resistance.

Zirconium winding wire has excellent high-temperature properties and sufficient strength. Wire made of zirconium is a relatively good thermal conductor but a poor electrical conductor.
