Chromium is a transition metal with atomic number 24 from the chromium group. It is hard and tough, easy to deform and forge. Chrome metal shows excellent corrosion resistance and is antiferromagnetic. It is soluble in hydrochloric and sulfuric acid. However, the dissolution of the metal does not occur immediately, but after the protective oxide layer is removed. During the dissolution of chromium, hydrogen is developed.
