Description:
Tungsten is rlt. inert; it is not attacked by oxygen, acids, or alkalis, but it reacts with molten, oxidized alkaline substances. Tungsten has the highest melting point of all metals. Tungsten is used as the base for a range of alloys that also contain copper and nickel. These alloys are used for radiation protection devices because they have a density about 50% higher than lead. Tungsten and its alloys are also used for military purposes, for example in tanks and grenades, as well as a material for counterbalancing weight.
