Description:
Tungsten is rt. inert, not attacked by oxygen, acids or alkalis, but reacts with molten, oxidized alkaline substances. Tungsten has the highest melting point of any metal. Tungsten is the basis for a number of alloys that also contain copper and nickel. These alloys are used for radiation protection devices because they have a 50% higher density than lead. Tungsten and its alloys are also used for military purposes, such as in tanks and grenades, and as a balancing material.
