Description:

The INCOLOY® alloy 825 is a nickel-iron-chromium alloy with additions of molybdenum, copper and titanium. The chemical composition of the alloy offers exceptional resistance to many corrosive environments. The nickel content is sufficient for resistance to chloride ion stress corrosion cracking. The nickel, in conjunction with molybdenum and copper, also offers excellent resistance to reducing environments such as those containing sulfuric and phosphoric acids. The molybdenum also supports the resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion. The chromium content of the alloy gives it resistance to a variety of oxidizing substances such as nitric acid, nitrates and oxidizing salt. With appropriate heat treatment, the addition of titanium serves to stabilize the alloy against sensitization to intergranular corrosion. The resistance of INCOLOY alloy 825 to general and local corrosion under various conditions gives the alloy a wide usefulness. Applications include chemical processing, pollution control, oil and gas recovery, acid production, pickling operations, nuclear fuel reprocessing, and radioactive waste management.

Areas of application:

  • Typical applications are: phosphoric acid evaporators; Pickling Tank Heater, Pickling Hooks and Equipment; chemical process equipment; Tank trucks; Propeller shafts and spent nuclear fuel recovery.
