1.3912 is an austenitic alloy consisting of approximately 61% iron and 36% nickel. The remainder is silicon, sulfur, phosphorus, manganese, cobalt, chromium and carbon. The grade has a low rate of thermal expansion and offers good ductility and toughness. At low temperatures, Invar 36 has good strength. The material’s thermal expansion can be further reduced through cold forming. Below the Curie temperature, the material shows ferromagnetic properties. Above that temperature range, it behaves non-magnetically.
