1.3912 is an austenitic alloy made up of around 61% iron and 36% nickel, along with silicon, sulphur, phosphorus, manganese, cobalt, chromium, and carbon. This grade is known for its low thermal expansion, good ductility, and toughness. Invar® 36 performs well at low temperatures and its thermal expansion can be further minimized by cold working. The material is ferromagnetic below the Curie temperature and becomes non-magnetic above it.
Evek GmbH is your trusted source for 1.3912, offering high-quality nickel alloys at competitive prices.
Invar® 36 is widely used in the production, storage, and transport of liquefied gases, as well as in measuring and control devices. It is also used to manufacture thermostats for temperatures below 200°C, and has various other applications, including:
- Production of OLED screens
- Aircraft construction (CFRP components)
- Satellite construction (frames, brackets, electronic control unit housings)
- Optical and laser systems (support elements for electromagnetic lenses)
- Cryogenic components
- Automotive industry (various parts)
Main features of Invar® 36 include:
- Very low thermal expansion
- Excellent ductility and toughness
- Good strength at low temperatures
- Suitable for cold forming
- Ferromagnetic below Curie temperature
- Non-magnetic above Curie temperature
