r6m5 is a high-alloy iron-tungsten-molybdenum high-speed steel. The material designation r6m5 means:
- R - high speed steel;
- 6 - about 6% tungsten;
- M5 - approx. 5% molybdenum.
The grade also contains approx. 80% iron, approx. 4% chromium, approx. 2% vanadium and approx. 1% carbon. This type of steel has very high strength, hot hardness, high temperature strength and increased toughness. Furthermore, it is extremely break-proof and wear-resistant and offers excellent sandability. The steel is not suitable for welding.
